Volleyball Recap: Vermilion Falls Despite Big Games from Elyse Myntti and Haley Stepp

Vermilion lost against Edison back in October of 2024, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Thursday. The Sailors fell 3-1 to the Chargers. While the Sailors didn't get the win, they did start the game off strong, beating the Chargers 25-21 in the first set.

Vermilion started the match hot and won the first set, but they struggled down the stretch and lost the last three. The final score came out to 21-25, 25-22, 25-18, 25-16.

Vermilion's loss came despite strong showings from Haley Stepp and Elyse Myntti. Stepp had 22 digs, while Myntti had eight digs and two aces. With that strong performance, Stepp is now averaging an impressive 10.4 digs per game.

Vermilion's loss was their seventh straight on the road dating back to last season, which dropped their record down to 2-6. As for Edison, the win made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 3-4.

Looking ahead, Vermilion will be playing in front of their home fans against Elyria at 12:00 p.m. on Saturday. As for Edison, they will venture away from home to square off against Bucyrus at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday.
