Softball Recap: Ayer Shirley Panthers vs. Littleton Tigers

Ayer Shirley had lost five straight on the road, but on Monday they dropped their record down to 6-10-1 to make it six. They lost 25-6 to the Littleton Tigers. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest defeat the Panthers have suffered since April 30th.

Lauren Reardon made the most of her time at bat despite the final result and went 2-for-3 with two runs and one double. The team also got some help courtesy of Kelsey Peterson, who went 1-for-2 with two runs.

As for Littleton, the victory (which was their fourth in a row) raised their record to 7-10. Their hitters stepped up their game for this one, as that was the most runs they've scored all season.

On Littleton's side, Tyana Killion made a big impact while hitting and pitching. She pitched four innings while giving up just two earned (and four unearned) runs off five hits. Killion was also big at the plate, getting on base in three of her four plate appearances with three runs.

In other batting news, Annabelle Caouette was a standout: she got on base in all five of her plate appearances with four runs, three RBI, and one stolen base. Those three RBI gave her a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Maeve Tule, who went 3-for-4 with five RBI and three runs.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Ayer Shirley will face off against Lunenburg at 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday. As for Littleton, they will venture away from home to square off against Clinton at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
