Basketball Game Preview: Lackey Chargers vs. Largo Lions

Two dominant guards in Malik Gordon and Cameron Ward are getting ready to go toe-to-toe. The Lackey Chargers will square off against the Largo Lions on Thursday. Each of these teams will be fighting to keep a win streak alive as Lackey comes in on 16 and Largo on three.

Lackey is on a roll after a high-stakes playoff matchup on Tuesday. They came out on top against Douglass by a score of 61-53.

Lackey can attribute much of their success to Isaiah Mansaray, who shot 43% from the field to rack up 25 points and three steals, and Gordon, who posted 14 points and six boards. That makes it four consecutive games in which Mansaray has scored at least a third of Lackey's points. Another player making a difference was Devin Leigh, who scored six points.

Meanwhile, Largo strolled past Fairmont Heights with points to spare on Tuesday, taking the game 91-75.

Lackey pushed their record up to 22-2 with the win, which was their 15th straight at home dating back to last season. The wins came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 64.5 points over those games. As for Largo, their victory bumped their record up to 21-3.

Everything came up roses for Lackey against Largo when the teams last played back in February of 2018, as the squad secured a 56-16 win. The rematch might be a little tougher for Lackey since the team won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
