Baseball Recap: Ian Macias Leads a Balanced Attack to Beat Harlandale

Southwest Legacy got themselves on the board against Harlandale on Friday, but Harlandale never followed suit. They came out on top against the Harlandale Indians by a score of 3-0 (the very same score they lost by in their prior game). For the Titans, this counts as revenge for the 8-0 win the Indians walked away with the last time they faced one another back in April of 2024.

Not much got past Aiden Garcia, who gave up just three hits and racked up eight Ks to keep Harlandale off the board. The dominant performance gave Garcia a new career-high in strikeouts.

On the hitting side, Southwest Legacy's victory was truly a team effort as six different players contributed at least one hit. One of them was Ian Macias, who scored a run while going 1-for-4. Nate Araiza also deserves some recognition as he hit his first double of the season.

Southwest Legacy's win was their first in the district, bumping their district record up to 1-3 and their overall record up to 3-6. As for Harlandale, they are on a five-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 1-8.

Looking ahead, Southwest Legacy will square off against Winn at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Harlandale, they have already played their next match, a 5-1 defeat against Veterans Memorial on the 8th.
