Two teams were on the hunt for playoff glory, but only the Benjamin Mustangs walked away with it. They secured a 75-69 W over the Greyhounds on Monday. The victory was nothing new for Benjamin as they're now sitting on five straight.
It was another big night for Grayson Rigdon, who scored 47 points along with five assists and three steals. That makes it 20 consecutive games in which he has scored at least a third of Benjamin's points. The team also got some help courtesy of Keegan Hayes, who scored 15 points.
Knox City lost despite a true team effort on the offense, the best among them being Devin Guillory, who scored 22 points along with six assists and two steals. Guillory is on a roll when it comes to steals, as he's now grabbed two or more in the last four games he's played. Bryson Callaway was another key contributor, almost dropping a double-double on 16 points and nine rebounds.
Benjamin's win bumped their record up to 21-1. As for Knox City, their loss dropped their record down to 28-4.
Benjamin will look to defend their home court on Friday against Irion County at 4:00 p.m. One thing working in Benjamin's favor is that they have posted big point totals every time they've taken the court this season. Knox City does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
