Baseball Recap: St. Francis Takes a Loss

St. Francis suffered their closest defeat since March 13th on Thursday. They fell just short of the Palma Chieftains by a score of 4-2. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Chieftains this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 5-4 last Tuesday.

St. Francis saw five different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Donovan Dominguez, who scored a run while going 1-for-2.

St. Francis has also traveled a rocky road recently, having lost three of their last four matchups. That's put a noticeable dent in their 8-6 record this season. As for Palma, the victory (which was their tenth in a row) raised their record to 12-2.

St. Francis and Palma could both be facing uphill battles in their next games considering their disadvantage in the MaxPreps California Rankings. The Sharks (ranked 345th) will meet Carmel (ranked 162nd) at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Meanwhile, Palma will face off against Saint Francis at 4:00 p.m. on Saturday with a big rank disadvantage (90 vs. 32).
