High school girls basketball rankings: Every team that has appeared in the final MaxPreps Top 25 since 2009

California's Mater Dei leads list of 185 schools that have earned a spot in the final rankings over the past 13 years.

In 2008-09, MaxPreps expanded its girls basketball computer rankings to include a human element. We accompanied the formulated numbers with a pulse while creating the MaxPreps Top 25 national rankings, which have been featured for the last 13 seasons.

In the first year it was an all-Indiana showdown for the top spot as Ben Davis (Indianapolis) edged the Skylar Diggins-led South Bend Washington Panthers 71-69 to win the state 4A final before 14,000 fans at Lucas Oil Stadium. Davis finished No. 1 that season and Washington No. 2.

The team that finished fourth that year, California power Mater Dei (Santa Ana), has appeared in the MaxPreps Top 25 seven more times to lead all programs nationally with eight, followed by Duncanville (Texas) and Paul VI (Chantilly, Va.) with seven appearances each.

In all, 185 schools have appeared in the rankings since 2008-09, representing 40 states (including the District of Columbia).

The state with most teams represented is California with 19 followed by Texas at 17. The only other state with double-digit numbers is Ohio with 10, while Florida, Indiana and Maryland each have nine.
