Softball Recap: Rhea County Gets the Win

It may have taken ten innings to finish the job, but Rhea County ultimately got the result they hoped for on Tuesday. They narrowly escaped with a victory as the squad sidled past the Bledsoe County Warriors 3-2. The win continues a trend for the Golden Eagles in their matchups with the Warriors: they've now won three in a row.

Allie Shaver spent all ten innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered a run (which was unearned) on four hits and racked up ten Ks. She has been consistent: she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in seven consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, Ella Wilkey was excellent, going 3-for-5 with one run, one double, and one RBI. Another player making a difference was Presley Bradshaw, who went 1-for-4 with one stolen base, one run, and one double.

The victory got Rhea County back to even at 11-11. As for Bledsoe County, with the loss, they broke their six-game winning streak and moved their record to 12-6-1.

Rhea County has already played their next contest, a 1-0 defeat against Cleveland on the 4th. As for Bledsoe County, they also wasted no time getting back out on the field and have already played their next match, a 4-3 loss against Marion County on the 1st.
