18 must be Essex's lucky number: they beat Franklin with that score not once but twice on Monday. The Trojans were the clear victors by an 18-7 margin over the Broncos. Considering the Trojans have won five matchups by more than eight runs this season, Monday's blowout was nothing new.

The win made it two in a row for Essex and bumps their season record up to 5-7. Those victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 18.0 runs over those games. As for Franklin, they dropped their record down to 1-8-1 with the defeat, which was their sixth straight on the road.

Looking ahead, Essex will look to defend their home field on Tuesday against Northumberland at 6:00 p.m. The Trojans' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Indians have averaged an impressive 9.3 runs per game this season. As for Franklin, they will head out to face off against Northampton at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday.
