Softball Recap: Germantown Beats Brookfield Central for Their Seventh Straight Victory

Germantown extended their winning streak to seven on Wednesday, bumping their season record up to 14-3 in the process. They came within a single run of losing the streak, but they secured a 5-4 W against the Brookfield Central Lancers. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest victory the Warhawks have posted against the Lancers since June 16, 2021.

Ella Saltarikos was excellent, going 1-for-3 with one stolen base, two RBI, and one run. Those two RBI gave her a new career-high. Audrey Mowery also deserves some recognition as she snagged her first stolen base of the season.

As for Brookfield Central, they are on a four-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 11-6. Even worse, they were so close so many times: the defeats came by an average of only two runs.

On Brookfield Central's side, Lexi Eichhorn put in work while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she struck out nine batters over six innings while giving up just one earned (and four unearned) runs off eight hits (and only one walk). Eichhorn has been consistent: she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in seven consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, going 1-for-3 with one run and one double.

In other batting news, Norma Glisczinski was cooking despite her team's loss, going 2-for-4 with one home run and two RBI. Gracie Seymour was another key player, going 1-for-3 with one home run.

Germantown will have a chance to go back-to-back against Brookfield Central: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday.
