Softball Recap: Independence Comes Up Short

If Independence was riding high fresh off their 15-0 takedown of Heritage last Tuesday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The Knights fell just short of the Emerson Mavericks by a score of 4-3 on Friday. The loss continues a trend for the Knights in their meetings with the Mavericks: they've now lost four in a row.

Independence saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Stormy DANIEL, who scored a run while going 1-for-3. Kamryn BLOODWORTH also deserves some recognition as she snagged her first stolen base of the season.

Independence's defeat dropped their record down to 6-10. As for Emerson, the victory was the sixth in a row for them, bringing their record up to 14-6.

We've got plenty of inter-district action coming up soon. Independence will take on rival Memorial at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Meanwhile, Emerson is set to square off against their familiar foe Lebanon Trail at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
