Basketball Recap: Max Hohman's Big Game Can't Quite Lead Lake George over Fort Ann

Lake George played a tough match on Wednesday in which they were outscored in every quarter. They came up short against the Fort Ann Cardinals, falling 61-39. The Lakers were down 49-29 at the end of the third quarter, and things only got worse from there.

Lake George lost despite a true team effort on offense. The best among them was Max Hohman, who dropped a double-double with 14 points and 11 rebounds. He is on a roll when it comes to boards, as he's now pulled down eight or more in the last ten games he's played. Cooper Smith also deserves some recognition as he scored his first points of the season.

Even though they lost, Lake George smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 16 offensive rebounds. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least ten offensive boards in five consecutive contests.

Fort Ann was led to victory by Kadence Cutter and Javier Hernandez. Cutter almost dropped a triple-double with 13 points, 14 rebounds, and nine blocks, while Hernandez almost dropped a triple-double with 19 points, nine boards, and nine assists. Cutter is becoming a predictor of Fort Ann's success: when he posts at least five blocks the team is 5-1 (and 5-7 when he doesn't). Another player making a difference was Marcus Stowhas, who dropped a double-double with ten points and 11 rebounds.

Lake George dropped their record down to 4-15 with the defeat, which was their tenth straight on the road. As for Fort Ann, the victory (which was their third in a row) raised their record to 10-8.

Lake George does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Fort Ann, a feisty cat fight will be fought as the Cardinals take on the Jaguars at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday.
