Baseball Recap: Needham Takes a Loss

Needham had lost two consecutive heartbreakers to Newton North and they left with a heavy heart again on Saturday. The Rockets fell just short of the Tigers by a score of 3-2. The Rockets have struggled against the Tigers recently, as the game was their fifth consecutive lost matchup.

Needham got a good showing from Will Cassidy, who pitched two innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. That's the first time Cassidy hasn't allowed a single earned run since back in April.

On the hitting side, Will Moore-ede and Joey Saratella stepped up to the plate in a big way. Moore-ede went 3-for-4 with two stolen bases and one run, while Saratella got on base in two of his four plate appearances with two stolen bases and one run. Moore-ede is on a roll when it comes to stolen bases, as he's now snagged at least one in each of the last five games he's played.

Needham's defeat dropped their record down to 5-13. As for Newton North, their win ended a three-game drought at home and bumped them up to 6-11.

Needham didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next contest, a 9-7 victory against Braintree on the 18th. As for Newton North, they also wasted no time getting back out on the field and have already played their next matchup, a 5-1 loss against Brookline on the 18th.
