Baseball Game Preview: Seven Lakes Spartans vs. Mayde Creek Rams

For the second straight game, Seven Lakes will face off against Mayde Creek. The Spartans will look to defend their home field on Thursday against the Rams at 6:00 p.m.

Last Tuesday, Seven Lakes earned a 7-2 win over Mayde Creek.

Nathan Johnson made a splash while hitting and pitching. On the mound, he didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only one hit while striking out eight over 4.1 innings pitched. He has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't given up more than one earned run in four consecutive appearances. He was also big at the plate, going 1-for-3 with two RBI and one double.

In other pitching news, Sebastian Silva looked comfortable as he tossed 2.2 innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. The dominant performance also gave him a new career-high in strikeouts (four).

Back at the plate, the team relied heavily on Carter Nannini, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with one triple, one stolen base, and one run. That's the most hits he has posted since back in February. Another player making a difference was Jace Garcia, who scored two runs while getting on base in three of his four plate appearances.

Mayde Creek dropped their record down to 2-19-1 with the defeat, which was their eighth straight at home. As for Seven Lakes, their victory bumped their record up to 17-10.
