The biggest upset of the week belonged to Gillespie, who took down 193rd ranked Carlinville, 36-27.
Greenville added to the longest winning streak in South Central this week by beating Pana, 56-21. The win marks sixth in a row for the the Comets.
Charlie Sheets was a key player and the best on defense this week as Roxana fell to Litchfield. The 6-foot-4 senior grabbed 1 sack.
Colt Thacker provided a threat through the air and on the ground as Staunton bested Southwestern.
Seth Stinnett was the best receiver in the league this week as the Bulldogs bested the Piasa Birds. Stinnett tallied 1 reception for 60 yards. Jonathon Allison helped Staunton's passing attack out by catching 1 ball for 18 yards.
On the heels of Joeb Easterday and Kinney Myles, the Cavaliers have had great success on offense. Easterday is tops in the league in passing with 444 yards, while Myles has rushed for 984 yards this season. Tops in the league in receiving yards is Staunton's Marcus Sitko, with 252 yards on 16 catches.
Carlinville's Myles needs only 16 yards against Hillsboro next week to surpass 1,000 rushing yards for the season. Myles has rushed for 984 yards on 89 carries so far this year.
An important game coming up in the league this week will be when Mike Parmentier's team takes on Greenville. The Bulldogs are in third place, while Todd Hutchinson's team is in first place.
The top two defenses in the league will face off this season when Staunton takes on the Comets. The Bulldogs have allowed 104 points this season, while Greenville has given up 99. Staunton allowed 6 points last week as it defeated Southwestern.
The Miners scaled the state rankings by moving to 184 from 228 this week, the biggest jump in South Central. Gillespie was able to move up by beating Chad Easterday's team 36-27.
