Baseball Recap: Pitman Victorious

While Pitman's victory against Downey wasn't quite the blowout it was the last time the pair played, they still came out on top. The Pride narrowly escaped with a win as the squad sidled past the Knights 8-7. That's the second time they've managed to beat them this season, as they also won 9-2 last Monday.

The team relied heavily on Nathan Cervantes, who scored two runs while going 2-for-4. Pitman is undefeated when Cervantes posts two or more runs, but 4-7 otherwise. Cole Kelley was another key player, scoring a run while getting on base in four of his five plate appearances.

Pitman always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .523. The last time their OBP was this high was back in April of 2024.

The victory got Pitman back to even at 7-7. As for Downey, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 5-9.

Pitman will have a chance to go back-to-back against the Knights: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 4:00 p.m. on Friday.
