Volleyball Recap: McComb Panthers vs. Holgate Tigers
It was a proper cat-fight when McComb faced off against Holgate on Tuesday. The McComb Panthers walked away with a 3-1 win over the Holgate Tigers. Winning may never get old, but the Panthers sure are getting used to it with their third in a row.
McComb had a slow start but a hot finish: after dropping the first set, they turned around to win the next three. The final score came out to 20-25, 25-12, 25-12, 26-24.
Despite the loss, Holgate had strong showings from Mya Tijerina, who had 25 digs, and Sylee Leaders, who had eight digs and four aces. Tijerina is on a roll when it comes to digs, as she's now had 15 or more in the last six games she's played dating back to last season.
McComb pushed their record up to 14-9 with the victory, which was their third straight at home. As for Holgate, their defeat ended a three-game streak of away wins and brought them to 11-12.
McComb wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next match, a 3-0 loss against Ottoville on the 17th. Holgate does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
