Basketball Recap: South Florence's Losing Streak Snapped at Three Games

South Florence won the last time they faced Lakewood and things went their way on Thursday too. The South Florence Bruins walked away with a 48-39 victory over the Lakewood Gators. The win was some much needed relief for the Bruins as it spelled an end to their three-game losing streak.

South Florence found their leader in sophomore Harmony Bostick, who dropped a double-double on 23 points and ten boards. The team also got some help courtesy of Allyson Watson, who posted ten points.

South Florence smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 14 offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least 11 offensive rebounds in three consecutive contests.

When it comes to explaining why Lakewood lost, don't look at Zakiya Hodge. Despite the final result, she scored 13 points. Another player making a difference was Camorri Glenn, who had nine points and eight rebounds.

South Florence's victory bumped their record up to 9-5. As for Lakewood, they have also traveled a rocky road recently having lost six of their last seven games, which put a noticeable dent in their 7-9 record this season.

South Florence has already played their next matchup, a 43-32 loss against Wilson on the 14th. As for Lakewood, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next contest, a 64-32 defeat against Lower Richland on the 14th.
