Poudre couldn't capitalize on their home-field advantage in their season opener. They took a hard 29-14 fall against the Monarch Coyotes on Friday. The Impalas were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Coyotes apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in September of 2023.

Despite the loss, Poudre still got an impressive performance from Praise Oluniyi, who rushed for 144 yards and a touchdown on only 14 carries. Oluniyi's longest rush was for an incredible 96 yards.

Poudre will take on Timnath at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Monarch, they will square off against Longmont at 6:45 p.m. on Thursday.
