Basketball Preview: Pettus Eagles vs. Yorktown Wildcats
The Pettus Eagles will head out on the road to challenge the Yorktown Wildcats at 6:15 p.m. on Friday.
Last Tuesday, Pettus was within striking distance but couldn't close the gap as they fell 56-50 to Kenedy.

Despite the defeat, Pettus saw an underclassman step up: sophomore Hayleigh Cruz posted 23 points and three steals. Cruz's evening made it three games in a row in which she has scored at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Celine Cantu, who had eight points and six steals.
Meanwhile, it was a proper cat-fight when Yorktown took on Skidmore-Tynan on Tuesday. Yorktown came out on top in a nail-biter against Skidmore-Tynan, sneaking past 31-28. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest win the Wildcats have posted since January 26, 2024.
Yorktown's record is now 15-9. As for Pettus, they have traveled a rocky road recently having lost 11 of their last 14 matches, which put a noticeable dent in their 8-14 record this season.
