Softball Recap: Escalon Cougars vs. Sonora Wildcats
Escalon had to endure a six-game losing streak, but that streak is no more. They came out on top against the Sonora Wildcats on Thursday by a score of 10-6 (the very same score they lost by in their prior game). This was payback for the Cougars, who suffered a 12-2 loss the last time these two teams met.
Madison Babasa was a major factor while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, pitching 3.1 innings while giving up just one earned (and one unearned) run off three hits. She has been consistent : she hasn't given up more than two walks in seven consecutive appearances. She was also stellar in the batter's box, going a perfect 3-for-3 with two triples and two runs.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Jayci Trimble, who scored two runs and stole a base while getting on base in two of her four plate appearances. Another player making a difference was Genevieve Casazza, who scored two runs and stole two bases while going 1-for-3.
