Softball Recap: Wednesday's Win Is Columbus East's Fourth in Last Five Outings

Two teams were on the hunt for playoff glory, but only Columbus East walked away with it. They never let the Columbus North Bull Dogs get on the board and left with a 3-0 victory on Wednesday. This was a revenge game for the Olympians: when they faced off against the Bull Dogs back in April, they had to take a 12-4 defeat.

Fish Baleigh was a major factor while hitting and pitching. She didn't allow a single earned run while striking out eight over seven innings pitched. She has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't given up more than two walks in four consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, going 2-for-3 with one double and one RBI.

In other batting news, Lola Watkins was excellent, going 2-for-3 with two runs, one triple, and one stolen base. That triple was her first of the season.

Columbus East is on a roll lately: they've won four of their last five matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 10-15 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.8 runs on average over those games. As for Columbus North, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 13-12.

As of now, neither Columbus East nor the Bull Dogs have any future games scheduled.
