Softball Recap: St. Joseph Picks Up Tenth Consecutive Win

St. Joseph faced Darien in a battle between two of the state's top teams on Thursday. The Cadets beat the Blue Wave by the very same score they won with in their prior game: 2-1. The win was familiar territory for the Cadets, who have now won ten contests in a row.

Katie Dzialo spent all 14 innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered only one earned run on seven hits and racked up 28 Ks. She has been consistent for a while: she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in 21 consecutive appearances.

At the plate, St. Joseph saw five different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Makena Hawkins, who went 2-for-6 with two stolen bases and one run.

St. Joseph pushed their record up to 20-3 with the victory, which was their seventh straight at home. The home wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 0.6 runs on average over those games. As for Darien, their loss ended a four-game streak of away wins and brought them to 17-5.

As of now, neither St. Joseph nor the Blue Wave have any future games scheduled.
