Baseball Recap: Oswayo Valley Drops Season-High Score on Port Allegany

Oswayo Valley had lost three straight at home, but on Friday they dropped their record down to 2-8 to make it four. They came up short against the Port Allegany Gators, falling 24-10. On the bright side, the ten- run effort marked the Green Wave's highest-scoring matchup to date.

Dawson Welch and Luke Karr did some serious damage despite the final result: Welch went 2-for-5 with three RBI, one run, and one double, while Karr went 2-for-3 with two stolen bases and two runs. Karr is on a roll when it comes to stolen bases, as he's now snagged at least one in each of the last three games he's played. P Klein also deserves some recognition as he brought in his first RBI of the season.

As for Port Allegany, their win bumped their record up to 8-1. The result was nothing new for the Gators, who have now won five contests by eight runs or more so far this season.

On Port Allegany's side, Aiden Bliss and Kellen Veilleux did most of the damage at the plate: Bliss went 4-for-5 with two stolen bases, three runs, and one triple, while Veilleux went 3-for-5 with two stolen bases, four RBI, and one run. Those four hits gave Bliss a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Tyler Fillhart, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with three runs, one stolen base, and one double.

Looking ahead, Oswayo Valley will look to defend their home field on Monday against Otto-Eldred at 4:30 p.m. Port Allegany has already played their next game (against Bradford), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing.
