Basketball Recap: Elijah Vigil's Big Game Can't Quite Lead Adams City over Pomona

Adams City was the 73-48 winner over Pomona when they last played one another back in December of 2023, but their luck changed this time around. The Adams City Eagles fell 46-36 to the Pomona Panthers on Friday.

Adams City's loss came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Elijah Vigil, who posted nine points. The team also got some help courtesy of Asiah Garcia, who earned four points and three steals.

Dj Hawkins continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines for Pomona, going 9 of 21 on his way to 23 points in addition to five boards and five steals. Hawkins' evening made it 15 games in a row in which he has scored at least ten points. Another player making a difference was Alex Garcia, who scored seven points.

Adams City has traveled a rocky road recently having lost four of their last five games, which put a noticeable dent in their 3-11 record this season. As for Pomona, their win bumped their record up to 6-7.

Adams City has already played their next contest, a 60-55 defeat against Aurora Central on the 21st. As for Pomona, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next matchup, a 72-53 loss against Golden on the 22nd.
