Softball Recap: Bluffton Extends Winning Streak to Four

Bluffton extended their winning streak to four on Monday, bumping their season record up to 12-13 in the process. They came within a single run of losing the streak, but they secured an 8-7 W against the Adams Central Flying Jets. That's the second time they've managed to beat them this season, as they also won 6-5 two weeks ago.

Madyson Sonnigsen spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered only one earned (and six unearned) runs on three hits and racked up seven Ks.

On the hitting side, Tressa Renner was incredible, going a perfect 3-for-3 with two runs, one stolen base, and two RBI. That's the most hits she has posted over her last 11 matchups. Konley Ault also deserves some recognition as she hit her first triple of the season.

Bluffton hit smart and finished the game with only two strikeouts. They are 6-3 when they post two or more strikeouts.

As for Adams Central, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost 11 of their last 13 games. That's put a noticeable dent in their 3-16 record this season. Even though they lost, their still made a splash at the plate and bumped their average scoring up to 6.1 runs per game (they're now ranked -1th in scoring overall).

On Adams Central's side, Melina Peralez made the most of her time at bat despite the final result and got on base in all four of her plate appearances with three runs. Andrea Isch was another key player, going 2-for-4 with two RBI and one run.

Coming up, Bluffton will face off against Fremont at 5:30 p.m. on Wednesday. As for Adams Central, they will square off against Winchester Community at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The Flying Jets' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Golden Falcons have averaged an impressive 9.4 runs per game this season.
