Football Recap: Poudre Comes Up Short Despite Charlie Swanson's Big Defensive Game + How To Watch

Poudre extended their losing streak (dating back to last season) to six on Friday, dropping them down to 0-5. They were six points away from ending the streak, but they lost a 26-20 heartbreaker at the hands of the Golden Demons. On the bright side, the 20- point effort marked the Impalas' highest-scoring matchup to date.

When it comes to explaining why Poudre lost, don't look at Henry Fuentes. Despite the final result, he picked up 55 receiving yards and one TD, and also rushed for 36 yards.

Even if they lost, Poudre's defense still kept up the pressure with four sacks. Charlie Swanson was especially locked on to Golden's QB and sacked him twice. Swanson is also crushing it when it comes to total tackles: he's made at least six every time he's taken the field this season.

As for Golden, the victory keeps them at an undefeated 4-0. The wins came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they've averaged 30.5 points this season.

Golden got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was Thatcher Matthews out in front who rushed for 65 yards and one score, and also threw for 156 yards and one touchdown. Colin Meier also deserves some recognition as he punched in his first rushing touchdown of the season.

Coming up, Poudre will welcome Rocky Mountain at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday. As for Golden, they are taking a road trip to face off against Lakewood at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. The Demons will be up against the Tigers' rather soft defense (which has allowed 46.5 points per game), so fans could be in store for a big offensive performance.
