Softball Recap: Humboldt Hawks vs. Como Park Cougars

Humboldt had lost six straight at home dating back to last season, but on Tuesday they dropped their record down to 1-8 to make it seven. They came up short against the Como Park Cougars, falling 23-5. The Hawks were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Cougars apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in May of 2024.

As for Como Park, the victory made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 7-2. The result was nothing new for the Cougars, who have now won six games by six runs or more so far this season.

For Como Park's part, Grace Klinge was a major factor no matter where she played. On the mound, she pitched 3.1 innings while giving up no earned runs off two hits. Klinge was even better at the plate, going 1-for-2 with three stolen bases, three runs, and one RBI.

In other batting news, Lilly Coyle was a standout: she got on base in all five of her plate appearances with five runs, one triple, and two RBI. Ariana Silverio was another key player, going 3-for-5 with two triples, three runs, and three RBI.

Coming up, Humboldt will venture away from home to square off against Harding at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday. As for Como Park, they will welcome Mounds Park Academy at 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday.
