Baseball Recap: Alma Center Lincoln's Losing Streak Snapped at Three Games

Alma Center Lincoln had lost three games straight , but after bumping their record up to 3-9 on Monday that streak is in the rearview. Their pitcher stepped up to hand the Eau Claire Immanuel Lutheran Lancers an 8-0 shutout. The Hornets not only won on Monday, but they posted their biggest win since April 11th (when they won 10-0).

Not much got past Jace Paul, who gave up just five hits and racked up 11 Ks to keep Eau Claire Immanuel Lutheran off the board.

On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Jay Stetzer, who went 3-for-4 with two runs, one stolen base, and one RBI. Those three hits gave him a new career-high. Massman Adam also deserves some recognition as he hit his first double of the season.

As for Eau Claire Immanuel Lutheran, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost three of their last four matches. That's put a noticeable dent in their 6-8 record this season. The contest marked the first time this year in which they were not able to get on the board.

On Eau Claire Immanuel Lutheran's side, they saw five different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Sawyer Sydow, who got on base in three of his four plate appearances with two stolen bases. Sydow is becoming a predictor of the Lancers' success: when he posts at least two stolen bases the team is 2-1 (and 4-7 when he doesn't).

Looking ahead, Alma Center Lincoln will square off against Gilman at 5:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Eau Claire Immanuel Lutheran, they wasted no time getting back out on the field and have already played their next game, a 5-4 loss against Elmwood/Plum City on the 13th.
