Softball Recap: Ogilvie Wins Going Away Against Crosby-Ironton

After having lost a blowout in their previous game against Braham, Ogilvie was happy to have turned things around on Monday. They were the clear victors by a 13-6 margin over the Crosby-Ironton Rangers. The high-scoring effort was just what the Lions needed considering they were shut out in their previous contest.

Mia Sholtz made a splash no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, striking out six batters over seven innings while giving up four earned (and two unearned) runs off four hits. Sholtz was also stellar in the batter's box, scoring two runs and stealing two bases while going 3-for-4.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Rebecca Stromberg, who got on base in four of her five plate appearances with three stolen bases, three RBI, and two runs. Ruby Beier was another key player, scoring two runs and stealing two bases while going 2-for-4.

Ogilvie now has a winning record of 2-1. As for Crosby-Ironton, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 1-3.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Ogilvie will challenge Hinckley-Finlayson at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Crosby-Ironton, they will face off against Mora at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
