Basketball Game Preview: Hermon Hawks vs. John Bapst Memorial Crusaders

The Hermon Hawks will head out on the road to take on the John Bapst Memorial Crusaders at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. John Bapst Memorial took a loss in their last game and will be looking to turn the tables on Hermon, who comes in off a win.

Hermon is headed into the contest having just posted their closest victory since January 27, 2024 on Saturday. They came out on top in a nail-biter against Washington Academy, sneaking past 47-45.

Meanwhile, John Bapst Memorial was just a bucket shy of victory on Wednesday and fell 47-46 to Ellsworth. While losing is never fun, the Crusaders can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Maine basketball rankings (they are ranked 70th, while the Eagles are ranked fourth).

Hermon's win ended a five-game drought on the road and puts them at 9-10. As for John Bapst Memorial, they have been struggling recently as they've lost nine of their last ten matches, which put a noticeable dent in their 4-14 record this season.

Hermon was able to grind out a solid victory over John Bapst Memorial in their previous meeting back in January, winning 48-38. The rematch might be a little tougher for Hermon since the squad won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
