Recap: West Wendover Wolverines vs. Yerington Lions
The West Wendover Wolverines suffered their closest loss yet this season on Friday. They fell just short of Yerington by a score of 40-37. West Wendover has not had much luck with Yerington recently, as the team's come up short the last two times they've met.
West Wendover lost despite a true team effort on the offense, the best among them being Lesly Tovar, who scored three points along with six rebounds and six steals. Tovar hasn't dropped below two steals for ten straight games. Another player making a difference was Samara Graham, who scored nine points along with seven rebounds and three steals.
West Wendover's defeat ended a four-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 9-6. As for Yerington, the win was the sixth in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 12-7.
Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. West Wendover won't have much time to rest: their next matchup is against Oasis Academy at 11:30 a.m. on January 20th. Oasis Academy is coming into the matchup on a four-game losing streak. As for Yerington, they will be playing at home against Sierra Lutheran at 6:00 p.m. on Friday.
