Preview: McDonough Rams vs. Calvert Cavaliers
McDonough is 1-8 against Calvert since October of 2014 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Friday. The McDonough Rams will head out on the road to face off against the Calvert Cavaliers at 7:00 p.m. The squads are rolling into the game with opposing streaks: McDonough has struggled recently with three losses in a row, while Calvert will arrive with four straight victories.
Last Friday, McDonough was beaten by La Plata 39-12.
Meanwhile, Calvert faced Patuxent in a battle between two of the state's top teams. Calvert secured a 19-14 W over Patuxent on Friday. 19 seems to be a good number for Calvert as the squad scooped up a win with the same number of points in their previous game.
Among those leading the charge was Domaine Wallace Jr., who rushed for 133 yards and a touchdown. Wallace Jr. was no stranger to the big play, turning on the jets for a run that went for 53 yards.
McDonough's defeat dropped their record down to 1-8. As for Calvert, their win was their fifth straight on the road, which bumped their overall record up to 8-1.
McDonough was taken down by Calvert 41-0 when the teams last played back in September of 2022. Can McDonough avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
