Preview: Cedar Cliff Colts vs. Red Land Patriots
Cedar Cliff is 9-0 against Red Land since October of 2014, and they'll have a chance to extend that success on Friday. The Cedar Cliff Colts will be playing in front of their home fans against the Red Land Patriots at 7:00 p.m. Cedar Cliff is coming into the game hot, having won their last three games.
Last Thursday, Cedar Cliff was fully in charge, breezing past Palmyra 55-18 on the road. The result was nothing new for Cedar Cliff, who have now won four games by 20 points or more so far this season.
Cedar Cliff relied on the efforts of Erik Schriver, who rushed for 130 yards and three touchdowns on only 15 carries, and Bennett Secrest, who rushed for 144 yards and three touchdowns on only 14 carries. Secrest was no stranger to the big play, turning on the jets for a run that went for 56 yards.
Meanwhile, Red Land fell victim to Bishop McDevitt's stalwart defense on Friday and couldn't make it onto the board. They were outmatched by the Crusaders at home and fell 49-0. While losing is never fun, Red Land can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Pennsylvania football rankings (they are ranked 349th, while Bishop McDevitt is ranked sixth).
Cedar Cliff has been no stranger to the win column this season, as they've started out with wins in seven of their first eight matches, giving them a 7-1 record. As for Red Land, their loss was their fifth straight at home (dating back to last season), which dropped their overall record down to 2-6.
Everything came up roses for Cedar Cliff against Red Land in their previous meeting back in October of 2022 as the team secured a 42-0 victory. Will Cedar Cliff repeat their success, or does Red Land have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
