Basketball Game Preview: Mt. Vernon Marauders vs. Brownsburg Bulldogs

The Mt. Vernon Marauders will challenge the Brownsburg Bulldogs at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday. Each of these teams will be battling to keep a four-game winning streak alive.

Mt. Vernon is on a roll after a high-stakes playoff matchup on Saturday. They walked away with an 83-76 victory over Greenfield-Central. The Marauders' offense stepped up their game for this one, as that was the most points they've scored all season.

Luke Ertel continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines, dropping a double-double with 36 points and ten rebounds. That makes it nine consecutive games in which he has scored at least a third of Mt. Vernon's points. Another player making a difference was Ryker Baer, who posted 11 points and six assists.

Mt. Vernon was working as a unit and finished the game with 19 assists. That's the most assists they've posted since back in December of 2024.

Brownsburg hadn't beaten Ben Davis on the road since December 21, 2019 but that history sure didn't bother them on Saturday. Brownsburg sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 52-49 win over Ben Davis. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest victory the Bulldogs have posted against the Giants since December 15, 2018.

Mt. Vernon's win bumped their record up to 20-5. As for Brownsburg, they now have a winning record of 13-12.
