Wills Handberry leads a balanced attack to beat Gatewood

The First Presbyterian Day Vikings's eight-game losing streak came to an end on Tuesday. They came out on top against Gatewood by a score of 76-64. The victory was all the more spectacular given First Presbyterian Day's disadvantage in MaxPreps' Georgia basketball rankings (they are ranked 498th, while Gatewood is ranked 177th).
First Presbyterian Day got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was Wills Handberry out in front who scored 20 points along with eight rebounds and four blocks. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Handberry has scored all season. Reynolds Handberry was another key contributor, scoring 18 points along with five rebounds and five steals.
First Presbyterian Day's victory ended a three-game drought at home and bumped them up to 4-10. As for Gatewood, their loss ended a three-game streak of away wins and brought them to 12-2.
Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. First Presbyterian Day will take on Tattnall Square Academy at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. As for Gatewood, they will be playing at home against Augusta Prep Day at 6:30 p.m. on Friday.
