Baseball Recap: Saturday's Win Is Oasis Academy's Sixth in Last Eight Outings

Oasis Academy was forced to take a big defeat against they on Friday, they got the better of them on Saturday. Everything went their way against the West Wendover Wolverines as they made off with a 17-6 win. The Bighorns might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won 13 matchups by six runs or more this season.

Matthew Bird made a big impact while hitting and pitching. He tossed two innings while giving up just one earned run off two hits. He has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than one walk in ten consecutive appearances. He was even better at the plate, going 2-for-3 with one home run, four runs, and three RBI. Those four runs gave him a new career-high.

In other batting news, Oasis Academy got a massive performance out of Trevor Barrenchea, who went 3-for-4 with one home run, two runs, and two RBI. That's the most hits Barrenchea has posted since back in March. Another player making a difference was Kayden White, who got on base in four of his five plate appearances with two runs, one triple, and one stolen base.

Oasis Academy always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .684. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.

Oasis Academy is on a roll lately: they've won six of their last eight games. That somehow still isn't as good as their 18-5 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 9.3 runs over those games. As for West Wendover, their loss ended a seven-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 16-7.

The teams didn't have to wait long for a rematch: the Wolverines beat Oasis Academy by a score of 15-0 later that day.
