High school football: No. 14 Corner Canyon, Skyridge headline MaxPreps Top 10 Games of the Week

By Zack Poff Sep 22, 2021, 8:00am

Chargers are three consecutive wins away from breaking Utah state record.

For the first time this season, the Top 10 Games of the Week are exclusively in-state matchups headlined by No. 14 Corner Canyon (Draper, Utah) seeking its 47th consecutive win. The Chargers host 6-0 Skyridge (Lehi) on Friday and the last time they played Jaxson Dart led the Chargers to a 29-26 comeback win after trailing 26-14 in the fourth quarter. Eric Kjar has led the Chargers to a 57-1 record and three state titles since taking over in 2017.

A couple of Georgia games are led by a huge AAAAA vs. AAAAAA clash as No. 47 Warner Robins hosts No. 52 Lee County (Leesburg) in a matchup of undefeated teams.

The top-two ranked teams in North Carolina face off as No. 35 Chambers (Charlotte) hits the road to take on Hough (Cornelius). The Huskies are the last team to beat the back-to-back 4AA state champs but the Cougars got revenge in the playoffs last year with a 24-10 win.

Trent Dilfer has done a remarkable job since taking over as head coach at Lipscomb Academy (Nashville) and will be going for his biggest win Thursday against No. 28 Oakland (Murfreesboro). The defending Division 1 Class 6 state champs have won 19 games in a row dating back to last season.

Games in Arizona, Colorado, Florida, New Jersey and Texas are also included in this week's action.
