Baseball Recap: Moses Brown Comes Up Short

Moses Brown extended their losing streak to five on Thursday, dropping their season record down to 4-6 in the process. They were two runs away from ending the streak, but they lost a 2-0 heartbreaker at the hands of the Westerly Bulldogs. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest defeat the Quakers have suffered since May 22, 2024.

As for Westerly, they pushed their record up to 7-4 with the win, which was their fourth straight on the road. The road victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.5 runs on average over those games.

For Westerly's part, Moses Brown's batters probably weren't too happy with Chase Collins, who pitched a no hitter and racked up seven Ks (he gave up zero walks). Collins has been consistent recently: he hasn't tossed less than six strikeouts any time he's pitched this season.

At the plate, Tyler Falcone was excellent, getting on base in all four of his plate appearances with one stolen base and one RBI. Jayden Parker was another key player, going 3-for-4 with one run and one double.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Moses Brown will welcome Coventry at 5:00 p.m. on Monday. As for Westerly, they will be playing at home against Narragansett at 5:00 p.m. on Friday. The last three games the Mariners have played have been within two runs, so don't be surprised if it's a close one.
