Softball Recap: Lyons Gets the Win

Lyons barely beat Hinsdale Central the last time the pair played, but that sure wasn't the case this time around. The Lions' pitcher stepped up to hand the Red Devils a 10-0 shutout on Friday. The Lions haven't had any issues with the Red Devils recently, as the game was their eighth consecutive win against them.

Caylee Wagner tossed a big game, not allowing a single earned run over five innings pitched. She has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't given up more than two walks in four consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, Maddy Pieroni was a standout: she went 1-for-2 with one home run and two RBI. Another player making a difference was Ava Jacklin, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with two runs, one double, and one RBI.

Lyons' victory bumped their record up to 8-13. As for Hinsdale Central, their defeat was their sixth straight on the road, which dropped their record down to 7-9.

Looking ahead, Lyons will challenge Shepard at 12:30 p.m. on Saturday. As for Hinsdale Central, they will face off against Oak Lawn at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday.
