Baseball Game Preview: Highline Pirates vs. West Seattle

The Highline Pirates will challenge West Seattle at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Both come into the game bolstered by wins in their previous matches.

Having struggled with three losses in a row, Highline turned things around against Renton on Monday. They walked away with a 6-2 win over the Red Hawks.

Roman Easter made a splash no matter where he played. He looked comfortable on the mound, pitching one inning while giving up no earned runs or hits. He also tossed no earned runs, which is notable because Highline is 2-1 when he allows at most one earned run, but 1-8 otherwise. Easter was also big at the plate, scoring a run while going 1-for-3. He also put up a double, which was his first of the season.

In other batting news, Gionni Ortiz and Anthony Cassarino did most of the damage at the plate: Ortiz scored a run while going 2-for-3, while Cassarino scored a run while getting on base in three of his four plate appearances. The dominant performance also gave Ortiz a new career-high in RBI (two).

Meanwhile, West Seattle waltzed into their matchup on Monday with three straight wins... but they left with four. They came out on top against the Rams by a score of 4-1.

West Seattle pushed their record up to 8-4 with the victory, which was their sixth straight at home. Those home wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.2 runs on average over those games. As for Highline, their victory bumped their record up to 3-9.
