Softball Recap: Otter Valley Has No Trouble Against Woodstock

Otter Valley had to skate by with only a two-run margin when they last took the field, which might have inspired the 15-run drubbing they dealt Woodstock on Wednesday. The Otters blew past the Wasps 16-1. The result was nothing new for the Otters, who have now won 11 matches by six runs or more so far this season.

Sophie Parker made a big impact no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run and allowing only two hits while striking out eight over five innings pitched. She has been consistent: she hasn't given up more than two walks in five consecutive appearances. She was also stellar in the batter's box, getting on base in three of her four plate appearances with two stolen bases, three runs, and two RBI.

In other batting news, Adyson Humiston was incredible, going a perfect 3-for-3 with one home run, three runs, and four RBI. Randi Lancour was another key player, going 1-for-2 with three stolen bases and three runs.

Otter Valley hit smart and finished the game with only one strikeout. The team's really been improving in that area: they've now improved their strikeout total in three consecutive contests.

Otter Valley's win was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 14-3. The home victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.3 runs on average over those games. As for Woodstock, they are on a five-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-4.

Coming up, Otter Valley will venture away from home to face off against Hartford at 3:00 p.m. on Saturday. As for Woodstock, they will welcome Twin Valley at 4:30 p.m. on Friday.
