            Baseball Recap: Hancock Panthers vs. Smithsburg Leopards        
        
		
        
        
            Hancock had lost five straight on the road, but  on Thursday they dropped their record down to 4-11 to make it six. They lost  9-2 to the Smithsburg Leopards. The Panthers were not able to make up for their  loss to the Leopards from their previous meeting  back in May of 2024.
  Ethan Hill was cooking despite his team's loss,   going 3-for-4 with one  stolen base, one  double,  and one  RBI.
As for Smithsburg, they are  on a roll lately: they've  won three of their last four matches. That's provided a massive bump to their 12-10 record  this season. Those  wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as  they  averaged 7.8 runs over those games.
 On Smithsburg's side,  George Mantz was  excellent,  going 1-for-4 with two  runs, one  stolen base,  and two  RBI. That's the most  runs  Mantz has posted since back in April. The team also got some help courtesy of  Heath Githens, who  went 1-for-3 with one  run, one  double,  and one  RBI.
 Hancock does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Smithsburg, they will square off against Brunswick at 1:00  p.m.  on Saturday.
