Baseball Recap: Independence's Loss Ends Seven-Game Winning Streak at Home

Independence and Choctaw County squared off in some playoff action on Saturday, but Independence had to settle for second. They came up short against the Chargers, falling 12-1. Having soared to a lofty 14 runs in the game before, the Wildcats couldn't push the score so high this time.

Independence saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Dallas Stepp, who went 1-for-2 with one double and one RBI. That double marked the first that Stepp has hit this season.

Independence's defeat ended a seven-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 18-10. As for Choctaw County, the victory (which was their seventh in a row) raised their record to 20-6.

While Independence had to take the loss, they won't have to wait long to give it another shot: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 6:00 p.m. on Monday.
