Basketball Game Preview: Northwestern Trojans vs. Nation Ford Falcons

The Northwestern Trojans will head out on the road to take on the Nation Ford Falcons at 8:00 p.m. on Friday. Northwestern will be strutting in after a win while Nation Ford will be coming in after a loss.

Northwestern took a loss when they played away from home two weeks ago, but their home fans gave them all the motivation they needed last Tuesday. They secured a 59-54 W over Rock Hill.

Among those leading the charge was Jayshawn Reid, who went 8 for 10 en route to 18 points and five boards. Those 18 points gave him a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Josh Singleton, who posted 13 points and five rebounds.

Northwestern was working as a unit and finished the game with 14 assists. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Rock Hill only racked up eight assists.

Meanwhile, Nation Ford lost to Fort Mill at home by a 51-36 margin on Thursday. While losing is never fun, the Falcons can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' South Carolina basketball rankings (they are ranked 66th, while the Yellow Jackets are ranked seventh).

Northwestern's victory bumped their record up to 5-10. As for Nation Ford, they dropped their record down to 9-10 with the defeat, which was their third straight at home.

Northwestern beat Nation Ford 74-66 in their previous meeting back in December of 2024. The rematch might be a little tougher for Northwestern since the team won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
