Basketball Recap: Hamilton Comes Up Short in High-Profile Contest with O'connor

On Thursday, Hamilton faced O'Connor in a battle between two of the state's top teams. The Hamilton Huskies fell 59-47 to the O'Connor Eagles. The Huskies were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Eagles apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in February of 2024.

Hamilton's defeat came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Sage Henry, who posted 16 points and six rebounds. The match was Henry's third in a row with at least ten points. Another player making a difference was Izzy Anderson, who put up seven points and five assists.

Audrey Bhesania was her usual excellent self, dropping a double-double on 16 points and 13 boards for O'Connor. The dominant performance gave Bhesania a new career-high in rebounds. Kamara Moss also deserves some recognition as she grabbed her first steal of the season.

Hamilton's loss dropped their record down to 13-10. As for O'Connor, the victory (which was their sixth in a row) raised their record to 12-7.

Hamilton will be playing at home against Basha at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Hamilton is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 50.2 points per game this season. As for O'Connor, they wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next game, a 103-18 win against Mountain Ridge on the 31st.
