Softball Game Preview: West Jefferson Roughriders vs. Mechanicsburg Indians

For the first time this season, West Jefferson will have a chance to prove themselves in a conference matchup. They will be playing in front of their home fans against the Mechanicsburg Indians at 5:15 p.m. on Monday. Mechanicsburg took a loss in their last contest and will be looking to turn the tables on West Jefferson, who comes in off a win.

Last Thursday, West Jefferson got the win against Hamilton Township by a conclusive 19-5. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Roughriders.

Jenna Mannon was a major factor no matter where she played. On the mound, she struck out seven batters over five innings while giving up just two earned (and three unearned) runs off four hits (and only one walk). Mannon was also solid in the batter's box, scoring three runs and stealing a base while going 2-for-4.

In other batting news, West Jefferson let Hailey McBrayer and Zoey Brown run wild. McBrayer went a perfect 5-for-5 with seven RBI and three runs, while Brown went 4-for-5 with one home run, two runs, and one triple. That's the most hits Brown has posted since back in April of 2024. Kimberly Warnock was another key player, going 2-for-4 with three runs, one triple, and two RBI.

Meanwhile, Mechanicsburg had to start their season on the road on Monday, and it wasn't the start they were hoping for. They lost 10-3 to Granville.

Bella Batkiewicz made the most of her time at bat despite the final result and scored a run and stole a base while going 2-for-2.
