Softball Recap: Holmes Aces vs. Gates County Red Barons
In what's become a running theme this season, Holmes gave their fans yet another huge win on Thursday. Their pitcher stepped up to hand the Gates County Red Barons a 10-0 shutout. Give Holmes' pitching crew some credit: that's the team's third straight shutout.
Gates County's batters probably weren't too happy with Mia Hoffer, who pitched a no hitter and racked up eight Ks (she gave up a single walk). Hoffer has been consistent recently: she hasn't pitched less than six innings in four consecutive pitching appearances.
On the hitting side, Marley Harrell and Ellie Spear did most of the damage at the plate: Harrell scored two runs and stole a base while getting on base in four of her five plate appearances, while Spear scored three runs while going 2-for-3.
Holmes pushed their record up to 15-9 with that victory, which was their third straight at home. As for Gates County, they are on a four-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 12-11.
