Baseball Game Preview: Jena Giants vs. Buckeye Panthers

The Jena Giants will head out on the road to challenge the Buckeye Panthers at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Jena will be looking to extend their current six-game winning streak.

Jena's pitching crew heads into the contest hoping to repeat the dominance they displayed on Monday. They came out on top against Delhi Charter by a score of 4-0.

Jonas Jenkins was excellent, scoring a run and stealing a base while getting on base in all three of his plate appearances.

Meanwhile, Buckeye hadn't done well against North DeSoto recently (they were 0-4 in their previous four matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Saturday. The Panthers sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 5-4 victory over the Griffins. The win was nothing new for the Panthers as they're now sitting on three straight.

Buckeye's victory was their ninth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 21-6. Those home wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 7.3 runs over those games. As for Jena, their victory bumped their record up to 20-7.

Jena couldn't quite get it done against Buckeye in their previous meeting back in March of 2024 as they fell 5-2. Can the Giants avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
