Plainville hit Middletown with a four-run fifth inning on Wednesday, which goes a long way in explaining the final result. The Blue Dragons fell just short of the Blue Devils by a score of 9-8. Even though they lost, the Blue Dragons' still made a splash at the plate and bumped their average scoring up to 6.1 runs per game (they're now ranked -1th in scoring overall).

Middletown saw seven different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Gia Lane, who went 3-for-4 with one run and one double. Another was Cooper Porch, who went 2-for-4 with two runs and one RBI.

Middletown is on a four-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 2-7. Even worse, they were so close so many times: the losses came by an average of only 3.75 runs. As for Plainville, their win ended a three-game drought on the road and puts them at 3-5.
